I’ve created an event but I thought the original title was a bit long and I couldn’t find an attractive pic to go with it. The original title was, ‘Breaking the Silo’s – cross boundry working in maternity care in the North West of England’
I’ve tentatively changed the title to ‘Riding the winds of change in the maternity services’ as that seemed to go quite well with the subjects of the talks, plus I found an autumnal picture that I thought may fit OK? but obviously Bev you are organising so please let me know if you prefer to stick with the original title.Linda, can you create tickets in the shop please?
Can you give me more details as to venue etc please so I can create the event on the website and Facebook? Thanks!
Hi Jeanine, it’s a fantastic question! don’t give up on getting answers, you’ve probably realised we haven’t really got going with the forum yet! Please stick with us and hopefully we can address this and other questions.
Regarding the question itself … In my opinion you’re quite right that to focus just on birth is very limiting and also completely untrue.’midwife’ means ‘with woman’ and the activity of being with woman happens in so many settings, not just the birthing room … I guess birth is central in one way as all our activities lead up to or away from, or revolve around, birth! But in my opinion you can be a midwife in many ways and embody the spirit of being truly ‘with woman’ whether at a birth or in an antenatal clinic, or after the birth.
I think we should try t-shirts – surely it would depend on the design as to whether they were popular or not?

Social media for Katherine’s article – I am so excited. On Facebook, the post has been shared 60 times and reached 12,282 people with lots of positive comments. Today’s Tweets total over 3500. I think about 1600 views for our original Tweets re Katherine’s article, and lots of retweets. It’s been one of our best days ever on social media for a news article. Well done team.
Sorry Linda, I’d copied it straight into a blog post and it was getting late and didn’t want to bother recopying it into Word. It’s gone down brilliantly with lots of compliments on the writing so well done Katherine and well done everyone for sharing. It’s the nearest we’ve been to going viral I think! Been shared quite a lot on Twitter …
Wow I had no idea Ishbel. How interesting. I think my vision would be to do it all online now rather than lug the books round. We could have a catalogue of items plus a reference only section (hence my ultimate vision of premises).
